Boarding the ferry was actually smooth, and the staff were really helpful with the ramp, which made things less stressful. Once we got over to the fort, though, some of the paths were uneven, so pushing the wheelchair took a bit more effort than I expected. I guess that comes with older historic places, and I was still glad we went. It was a good visit overall, just one of those days where you notice the little bumps along the way.

I liked the gift shop at Fort Sumter Tours more than I expected. I figured it’d be the usual touristy crap like magnets and postcards, but they actually had a decent mix of stuff.

I ended up grabbing a shirt, a mug, and a few little things for my kids. Prices weren’t stupid either, which was a nice surprise because some gift shops act like they’re selling gold-plated junk.

The place was easy to walk around, not packed with clutter, and the staff were friendly. Definitely a good spot to pick up something to remember the trip without feeling like a total sucker.

I booked through fortsumtertours.com mostly because I wanted to get out on the water and see the harbor, the views were probably the best part. Leaving the dock and looking back at Charleston was really pretty. The ride itself was fine, just not super exciting for me. It did get a bit crowded, and I kind of got the feeling they were more focused on keeping the schedule moving than giving people much time to just relax and take in the scenery. Maybe that’s just how these tours are set up, but I would’ve enjoyed a slower pace. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t call it amazing either. If you’re mainly looking for simple harbor views, it’s worth doing.

Honestly, 5 stars from me. The food and drink options were, you know, better than I expected for a tour boat. I grabbed a cold drink and a few snacks before we headed out, and the prices weren’t too bad either. Nothing fancy or anything, but it was easy, convenient, and it did the job for the trip.
